Thank you for visiting my blog
I am Shilpa, a proud mom to two most wonderful boys, a very happy wife married to an amazing man. Here I share simple and tasty recipes, inspirations and ideas from my kitchen. I am from Bangalore, India, my husband is from Poland, we lived in Dublin for over 9 years, we finally bought our own little home in Wexford and moved there for good. There is quite a mix of different cultures at home, since my Husband is Polish, me an Indian and we live in Ireland, so my recipes are not specific to one cuisine alone. I started my clean eating journey after I had my baby, but realized healthy eating does not have to be boring at all. I discovered so many wonderful ways of cooking which are all very healthy. Hope you enjoy my recipes as much as I enjoy making them.
“Skip the Diet, Just eat Healthy”
My love for food
My passion for food and cooking goes way back to my childhood in Bangalore, India. My dearest Mom is an exceptional cook, the way she cooked for all of us always inspired me to learn more. Even now even though I live in Ireland whenever I have some doubts with cooking I call her and ask her advice. I remember helping her while cooking, I enjoyed watching her cook, I used to chop vegetables, grating a fresh coconut, and I would be the official food taster at home among the three siblings. As I grew older when in college I would go through simple recipes from the local television or newspaper and make them at home. The more I cooked, the more appreciation I received, the more interested I became.
After I got married and moved to Dublin, I started exploring the other side of cooking or rather baking, that is something I had never ever done before. In India I grew up without an oven and I had no idea how to use one. After I had my first boy and was kind of going to postpartum depression, baking helped me so much to heal mentally. Having a new born baby at home I started to learn how to bake and it was sooo therapeutic. Then with all the baking came a lot of sugar intake too. I kept baking and baking and we went on eating and eating. Over time I put some extra weight and also our cholesterol were beginning to increase.
That is when I changed my whole lifestyle and found out different way to still enjoy treats and meals but with much healthier options. Our sugar intake reduced and so did our weight. It was not just about weight, altogether I became more health conscious and started my healthy journey. We still enjoy treats from time to time but not at the cost of our health. I found a right balance between enjoying good food and also eating more organic and wholesome food.
So thank you for your time and I really hope you enjoy my recipes. Please feel free to comment, email or just stop by to say Hi :)
